I am sure you can understand my excitement when I heard that Selfridges London will be holding a retrospective of Vivienne Westwood Shoes from the past five decades. My love for Viv has been no secret on this blog. And her shoes are some of the things I covet most about her collections. I won’t have an opportunity to make it to London before the exhibit ends on September 22, 2010. However, if any of you dear readers are planning on taking a trip, I would highly recommend a viewing. You would even get to see the now infamous platforms that brought down Naomi Campbell in the ’90s. I’d say that is well worth it.

Collaborations

I have always had a major love affair with Target. My bestie, Ashley, and I were known for getting lost in a Target for hours when we were bored in college. And I still notice myself doing it today.

So, you can imagine how much I love all the Target Designer collaborations over the years. I have pieces from their collabs with Proenza Schouler, Cynthia Vincent, Liberty, Loeffler Randall, Eugenia Kim and Hayden-Harnett. It’s also fair to say that I am really looking forward to what Mulberry and Tucker have coming with Target in the fall.

But, the following collaboration is one that I am most excited/intrigued by. Simon Doonan, Creative Director at Barney’s, is doing a line of Halloween costumes. I think he summed the style of costumes all up when he said, “The witch is a ‘Diva Witch’ and her dress says ‘Honk if I’m fierce.’”

Pay HOMAGE

Coming from Columbus, Ohio, it is really hard not to get excited about another Ohio State Buckeyes football season as soon as August rolls around. There is nothing like Saturday’s in the fall around these parts. And over the years, I have been on a constant quest for the perfect Ohio State t-shirts to wear to games. Last year, I came up with gold. I found the most comfortable and soft baseball tee to wear all year round. And, the best part? The one and only Archie Griffin is on the front (only the greatest college football player of all time).

My favorite t-shirt is made by a company called HOMAGE. Created by some local dudes, they bring the best moments of sports, music, politics and pop culture to the greatest t-shirts you’ll ever find. I promise that if you buy one, you will live it in forever. Now, if only I can some how special request the perfect Butler University t-shirt to represent my alma mater…

Last week, myself, Husband and a few friends went to see The National perform live. It was easily the best concert I have seen in awhile. It ranks right up there with The Arcade Fire show from a few years ago. Of course, they played my favorite song from High Violet. Here is a live video of “England” just to give you a taste of what it was like. Beyond, if you ask me.

Word on the street is that Sophia Coppola is filming her second commercial for Miss Dior Cherie perfume. You may not remember the first one, but it’s deliciously french. I love everything about it.

Summer Hiatus

Summer hiatus? I think so. You get so busy, and all of a sudden you realize that little project you started called blogging just fell off the face of the earth. I didn’t intentionally mean to neglect you, my dear readers. And that includes all three of you. But, seriously. I will do my best not to let it happen again.

So what have I been doing while away? Other than school and work, I took a trip to Hilton Head Island for a week. And while there we made a stop in Savannah, GA and Beaufort, SC. Husband and I also hit a couple concerts, celebrated some birthdays and spent time with friends and family.

So, here’s to another stab at this. Cross your fingers I can keep up. XO!

I am the proud owner of a vintage Schwinn Suburban, circa the 1970′s. It belonged to husband’s mom, sat in their basement for over thirty years, and was recently brought back to life this past summer. After a little cleaning, a tune-up, fix of the gears, and the addition of a basket, it’s been a perfect (and inexpensive!) addition to the family.

Old bikes like these do come with a few downsides, though. First off, this particular bike is just a little too tall for me. Even with the seat on the lowest possible setting, I have trouble reaching the ground with my toes. And secondly, it has one of those heavy, steel frames. Husband refers to it as a beast (especially compared to his light as air Bianchi he just purchased). I know the steel material has a lot to do with how well it is made, but I have trouble lugging this thing in and out of the house whenever I want to go for a ride.

The point of this post is that I am considering a new purchase. And I am completely and utterly in love with Linus bikes. Inspired by French bicycles from the 50′s and 60′s, they are hard not to love. I think this is what I may need. With the addition of a basket, of course.

I have been itching for a trip to the beach lately. And J. Crew’s new catalog is doing nothing to help. I guess its a good thing that Husband, his family and I will be heading down to Hilton Head at the end of June. Only 56 more days to go! (Can you tell I’m dying?)

Better Late Than Never

I got to spend Easter with both sides of my family (Husband’s and mine). Besides enjoying the gorgeous weather, one of the fun things we did was set up an Easter Egg Hunt for my 16-month old nephew. He certainly had the right idea by eating the contents of each egg before moving onto the next. Smart kid. And, now he is the only one to receive an Easter basket on that side of the family. Here he is enjoying some of his loot.
